Andrew Symonds' inner-most thoughts on racism capped a highly-emotive week in Australia-India's 60-year cricketing rivalry.
As the racism debate continued to rage, West Indies great Michael Holding slammed the ICC for suspending Harbhajan.
"I do not understand how this (monkey) is a racist term. The scientists say we all came from monkeys, so how can this be deemed racist?" he said.
India cricket board vice-president Lalit Modi last night questioned Symonds and Ponting's version of events, claiming Harbhajan would not be familiar with the word "monkey".
"Harbhajan is from Punjab. This is not a word people from this area are attuned to saying," he said.
"Nobody has heard it. There is no proof (Harbhajan racially abused Symonds) and everything is being made of this.
"Harbhajan is being penalised for something he didn't do."
