Comeback in Bollywood
After his unsuccessful journey in parliament, he is attempting to make a comeback in Bollywood since 2006 with the comedy film Bhagam Bhag alongside Akshay Kumar. His first 2007 release was the huge multi-starrer Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love. Although a box office disappointment. During his tenure as an MP, Govinda embarrassed his party, Congress, by coming out in open to support actor Shakti Kapoor, who had been caught in a sting operation, asking for sexual favours from a television reporter posing as a Bollywood aspirant. Govinda played the role of a villain for the first time in his career in Shikari (2000). Although the movie was not a commercial success, Govinda's convincing portrayal of a sociopath murderer was critically acclaimed.

As an MP, Govinda has been criticized for being inaccessible to the people of his constituency, especially during the terrible rains (beginning July 26, 2005) that left around 450 dead in Mumbai. Money hai toh Honey Hai
The slapping incident happened on the sets of Money Hai Toh Honey Hai in Mumbai.
The actor was giving a shot for the film when he found a man roaming on the sets and looking at him intently. He initially thought the person in question was a journalist waiting for him. On further inquiry, Govinda came to know that the person was just killing time and distracting him. He also wondered how an intruder got into Filmistan studio without permission.
Govinda requested that person to leave, but the man refused. Now Govinda, a Member of Parliament from the same area, could not take this, and slapped the man.
"It was quite shocking to see Govinda behave that way," a source present on the sets told rediff.com.
If Govinda has no interest to serve the people and he thinks that he is not capable to represent the people of his constituency then why does he not resign from the membership of parliament? Why does Sonia Gandhi not instruct him to do so?
