So many
types of Gandhis
These are neither
the fault of Gandhis of 10 Janpath nor Manmohan Singh because they
could not know which Gandhi was being referred. There are
good Gandhis, bad Gandhis and notorious Gandhis. There were Gandhis
in Hindus and Muslims and perhaps in Pasis. Some said Feroze Gandhi
was Parsi and some says he was Muslim. There are Gandhis in BJP as
sell as Congress and other parties. Pradip Gandhi was MP of BJP. He
took bribery for asking questions in the parliament.
African National
Congress allias Indian National Congress
As reported by
dailynews.co.za/ and Indian newspapers on Feb 28: African National
Congresscouncillors are expected to rubber-stamp the massive
street and building renaming campaign at a full council meeting.
There are also mixed views about renaming Point Road, long
associated with sleaze and vice, after passive resistance leader
Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi’s
great grandon Allias present Indian Gandhis

The
Point Road in the centre of
Durban, known as a prostitution
hub, will be renamed after Gandhi within three months by the
government.
Political activist
Fatima Meer said changing Point Road to Mahatma
Gandhi was "nonsense" and dishonoured the name of a great man. But
Satish Dhupelia, Gandhi's great-grandson, said he welcomed the name
changing.
Outspoken Tony
Patel, owner of a business in Point Road, said he would not
abide by the name change under any circumstances and couldn't
understand why the municipality was insisting on "putting an Indian
name in town". "Why replace a simple name with a name that belongs
in Chatsworth or Phoenix," he said. "I will not change the name in
any of my business cards and letterheads."
Business has been
particularly critical. Manilal Patel, owner of
Patel's Vegetarian Lounge, said they had been in Grey Street for 65
years. "This name change is not a good idea. Everyone is used to
Grey Street and it has historical value," he said. "Changing the
names is just going to cause confusion."
The other dignitary to be
honored is Dr Yusuf Dadoo, who was leader of the
South African Indian Congress at one time. It was decided that the
Grey Street
and
Broad Street
will be named after Dadoo.
Grey Street
, once famous as "Little India", has now degenerated into a
crime-ridden area after most of the Indians and businesses moved out
from the place to suburbs and other upmarket areas.
Ashwin Desai,
a local activist and academic said: "Its high-time we changed the
colonial and Apartheid features of the city and I fully support the
move. But I have a problem when Gandhi's name is used for the
Point Road
area. Gandhi practised as a lawyer in
West Street
and if anything, I think the main street should have been
named after Gandhi."
The leader of the Indian
Minority Front party, Amichand Rajbansi, who is a
minister in the
Kwazulu-Natal
provincial government, said he was also opposed to Gandhi's
name being used for the
Point Road
area.
They should have renamed
the whole city 'GandhiCity'
instead of electing to abuse his name on a street prominent for
everything that Gandhi would have opposed” said protesting angry
Indian origins of
South Africa. They on’t
think Ghandi would like his name to be synonymous with hookers and
crack addicts
But reacting to the
complaints, deputy mayor Logie Naidoo said "the re-naming of the
nine streets has been done after a great deal of thought and
research." "
Point Road
was re-named after Mahatma Gandhi because it was in this area
that the first Indians who came from
India
had set foot on South African soil and settled. I don't think
people should see anything untoward in this re-naming," said
Naidoo.
But Ela Gandhi, a
grand-daughter of the Mahatma and former member of parliament for
the ruling African National Congress, was more cautious in her
reaction. She said there was no cause for concern. "Gandhi would
have settled in Point Road to change people's immoral ways. My only
concern is that he should have been given one of the more important
roads, given his contribution to the non-violent movement in
South Africa
," she said.
"I know a lot of people
will have problems with this decision, but I am delighted," Ela
Gandhi added.
History of
dishonoring Gandhi in India
In last time of his life
Mahatma imagined the misuse of ‘Congress’ name after his death.
Gandhi’s last wish was to abolish the ‘Congress’. Even last wish of
hanging accused is heard but last wish of Gandhi was not fulfilled
and Congress became the property of Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. Their
‘Gandhi-Jap’ is for getting votes. They are dishonoring late Gandhi
and killing Gandhism to call themselves Mahatma Gandhi and Congress
of Pre-independence to overlook other.
Gandhis should
read Mahatma Gandhi
In Sept 2003, the court
ordered Mr Ranganathan to buy Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography, My
Experiment with the Truth. Read it.. & prove it The judge ordered Mr
Rang Nathan a senior opposition member from the city of
Chennai, must familiarize himself
with the great pacifist's writings, so that he could reform himself
and serve his constituents more effectively. Mr Ranganathan has been
accused of threatening another person in a land dispute. Ranganathan
told the court he had finished reading the first 56 pages of the
560-page autobiography. Why not such order to present Gandhis?
All Must Heed
Gandhi except Congress
In accident person
forgot about himself. But our case is not this. We are Indians we
want to forget our history. We gave ‘bBharat Ratn’ to Teresa and
‘Padmshree’ to Glady Staines whose job is only to convert tribal
into Christianity. “Jagat Guru” is inventing beyond seven wonders
personalities.
Century of Gandhi’s Satyagrah in
Africa
The 88-year-old
anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela joined top leaders, nobel
laureates and elder statesmen on Jan 9, 2007 was addressed a
conference, through a satellite link from South Africa, to mark
the centenary of Gandhi’s ’satyagraha’ or non-violent movement
which began in Johannesburg on Sept 11, 1906, where Gandhi was
practising law. Gandhi lived in
South Africa
from 1893 to 1914, where he was an active and high profile
political activist. Referring to him as ‘the sacred warrior’,
Mandela said the Mahatma combined ethics and morality with a
steely resolve that refused to compromise with the oppressor,
the
British Empire
. UPA Government was shy to request Mandela that the
Point Road
of
Durban
(S.Africa) should not be named after Gandhi.

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has dedicated receiving
India
's highest international honour, the Gandhi Peace Prize, to
"the people of
South Africa
, to the freedom of
Darfur
and to Aung San Suu Kyi", the Burmese leader held under
house arrest.
The honour was conferred
on the Nobel Peace Prize laureate by Indian President Abdul Kalam at
a ceremony in
New Delhi
yesterday
Hailing Tutu as a "living
Gandhian", Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said there was no better
ex-ample of practising the Mahatma's principles than the
reconciliation effort in post-apartheid
South Africa
.
"I say that Bishop Tutu
is a living Gandhian because there has been no greater example of
the practice of Gandhiji's principles than the reconciliation effort
in post-apartheid
South Africa
," the prime minister said. PM and Super PM could not dare to
say for not naming the red light area of
Durban
after Gandhi. BJP is communal as published in the school books
of
West Bengal
, ruled by comrades. They are atheists. They have no god. They
are looking always towards the greater country than
India
and which may be
China
or
Russia
. We all know who are their godfathers.
