Independent Directors of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Nilanjan Sanyal, CA; K S Chauhan and Pramod Bindal, CA arrived in Bhilai on January 28. Upon reaching Bhilai Niwas, the dignitaries were accorded a warm welcome by senior officers of Bhilai Steel Plant.
During the course of their Bhilai visit on January 29, the visiting dignitaries planted saplings at Bhilai Niwas in the morning. Thereafter, they reached the Safety Excellence Center inside the Plant premises where they viewed the various activities related to safety. Thereafter, the dignitaries visited the Rail and Structural Mill, Universal Rail Mill, Steel Melting Shop-3 and ‘Mahamaya’ Blast Furnace-8 and took keen interest in the operation of these important units. During this visit, they were accompanied by senior officers of Bhilai Steel Plant.
The Independent Directors of SAIL attended a presentation and discussion at Ispat Bhavan in the afternoon. The dignitaries viewed with interest presentation on issues related to project review and ramping of production from the new facilities. Bhilai Steel Plant’s performance especially that of the MODEX units with special focus on ramping of production from SMS-3 were discussed at length.
Also discussed were the help required by the BSP collective to achieve the same including the problem of Manpower. In addition to this, the supply of 1 Million tonnes of rails to Indian Railways and the various initiatives taken to achieve this target were also discussed. Present on this occasion were A K Rath CEO, Bhilai Steel Plant, Executive Directors, General Managers and senior officers of the plant.
