Member of Lok Sabha Mr. Rahul Gandhi said that progress of the country is possible only by uniting all the sections of society including tribal people. It is our cultural value to bring people together in harmony and ensure all-inclusive development, which is clearly reflecting in this tribal dance festival. This festival is an opportunity to learn about and understand tribal culture and its history. This dance fest is also the reflection of our unity in diversity.


Mr. Rahul Gandhi formally inaugurated the three-day National Tribal Dance Fest organized at Science College Ground today. The inaugural programme was presided over by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. In this dance fest, nearly 1800 artists from 25 states, three union territories and countries such as Bangladesh, Uganda, Maldives, Belarus, Thailand and Sri Lanka are participating.
In his address to the inaugural programme, Mr. Rahul Gandhi said that in Chhattisgarh, the government is making consistent efforts for economic development with the all-inclusive approach. Improvement in economy is not possible unless tribal people, dalits, labourers, farmers, women and all the sections of the society are included in the collective efforts. All these sections are responsible for efficiency of the system. National interest cannot be served by causing dispute between fellow citizens. Uniting people, communities and all the sections of the society is the only way to march ahead on the path of nation’s development. This Tribal Dance Fest has also been organized with the same intention.


Mr. Gandhi praised the efforts and initiatives of Chhattisgarh Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, saying that for welfare of tribal communities, state government returned their lands to them, improved the wage rate for tendupatta collection, launched Suposhan Abhiyan for malnutrition eradication and Chief Minister Haat-Bazaar Clinic Scheme for providing better health services. All these efforts are yielding promising results. Number of incidences of violence has significantly declines as government is listening to the voices of people and acknowledging their needs and demands.


On the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that we are making consistent efforts to preserve the tribal art, culture, tradition and heritage. Unity in diversity is our strength and identity. He said- Member of Lok Sabha Mr. Rahul Gandhi had told him that a government should be people’s government, where every citizen feels included and acknowledged. Under the guidance of Honourable Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi, our government is wiping the tears of every section of society. We have won the trust of farmers, we returned the lands to tribal people of Lohandiguda. Haat-Bazaar Clinic has been started for their healthcare. As a result our government’s efforts, peace and harmony has been established in Chhattisgarh.

Pledge to free Dantewada district from the curse of being backward district
In the presence of Member of Lok Sabha Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel pledged to reduce the percentage of poverty in Dantewada district to below national average. Presently, in Dantewada district, 60% people are below poverty line, whereas national average is 22%. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Cabinet Ministers took the pledge to reduce this percentage to below 22% in four years, so that Dantewada district could get rid of the tag of most backward district.
Chief Minister said that the state government has taken several initiatives to preserve the rich cultural traditions of devgudi, ghotul. We have confidence in our constitution. We are determined to provide tribal people, backward, poor people and women their constitutional rights. Culture Minister Mr. Amarjeet Bhagat proposed vote of thanks.
