Cyclone Toute, which has risen from the Arabian Sea, has wreaked havoc on the western coasts of the country. The destruction of Toute has not stopped yet now that the threat of new cyclonic storm Yas is coming. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding Yas. A low pressure area is likely to form over North Andaman Sea and East Central Bay of Bengal on 22 May. It can turn into a cyclonic storm in the subsequent 72 hours. It can move northwestwards and hit the West Bengal-Odisha shores by the evening of 26 May. It may affect West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya from May 25. In this regard, meteorologist Raipur HP Chandra has said that a low pressure area is likely to form over North Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on 22 May. It is more likely to turn into a cyclone on 24 May.

It is expected to reach Odisha and West Bengal coast moving towards north-west on the morning of 26 May. The name of the cyclone will be Yas, given by Oman. Its effect is not likely to happen in Chhattisgarh. Here, the weather forecast of Indian Meteorological Department can move towards North West. West Bengal can reach the shores of Odisha by the evening of 26 May. West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya may receive light to moderate rainfall from May 25. After this the rain is likely to intensify.
