Bridge is made of chain of shoals. Some of the sandbanks are dry and the sea in the area is very shallow, being only 3 ft to 30 ft (1 m to 10 m) deep in places, which hinders navigation.
The bridge큦 unique curvature and composition by age reveals that it is man made. The legends as well as Archeological studies reveal that the first signs of human inhabitants in Sri Lanka date back to the a primitive age, about 1,750,000 years ago and the bridge age is also almost equivalent.

MSRDC has plans to provide a viewers' gallery at the top of the towers which would offer a bird's eye glimpse of the entire city.
"A business man or an executive while driving to his office can enjoy the view of the Bandra-Worli sea link but what about the common man how can he see it," asked BEST's Chairman Dilip Patel.
"We have planned an open deck bus tour of the bridge for the citizens. The ferry would start from one of the business hub's in the city-Bandra-Kurla Complex to Worli Sea Face and can accommodate nearly 38 to 40 passengers and would cost them Rs 15-20," Patel said.
The bridge rests on two towers, each 126 metres tall or equivalent to a 43-storeyed building.
There is a modern, automated, 16-lane toll plaza at the southern end, and the bridge has been equipped with sophisticated security and monitoring systems.
The Bandra-Worli sea link’s phosphorescent lines of cable gleam in the shape of the letter “A”,lighting up the evening skyline over Mahim harbour.
It has two towers at the Bandra and Worli ends, using 264 and 160 stay cables respectively to support the bridge.
Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) is Executed by Hindustan Construction Company.
The chief attraction of the magnificent structure would be the two cable-stayed bridges, one 500 metres long (northern side) and another 350 metres long (southern side), for the passage of fishing boats.

Ever since the NASA came out with the picture of Ram Sethu, pilgrims and tourists to the island make it a point to see the Sethu. The recent controversy created by Christian Ambika Soni and Christian Sonia Gandhi has managed to arouse even greater interest in the structure. In early 19th century, people used to go up to Ram Sethu to perform last rites of their near and dear ones. The practice was subsequently stopped and pilgrims offered pooja at Dhanushkodi or Arichalmunai, the confluence of Indian Ocean (Gulf of Mannar) and Bay of Bengal (Palk Strait). Now, pilgrims are eager to see the bridge, believed to be constructed by Lord Ram
