Dueling was a common way to kill someone in the 1800s. U S President Andrew Jackson, Duel with Charles Dickinson 1806.
Jackson shot dead to Dickinson. In that duel Dickinson's bullet had lodged too close to Jackson's heart to be removed safely. Jackson would carry it to his grave June 8, 1845. Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States (1829–1837).
Perhaps dueling is still alive as one side duel in the shape of death threats. Today’s media reports confirm: Obama faces 30 death threats a day. Since Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400 pct from the 3,000 a year or so under President Bush.
Duel means to engage (another) in or as if in formal combat, to oppose actively and forcefully by gun shot or sword or any other form. A prearranged, formal combat between two persons usually fought to settle a point of honor. Duel was a struggle for domination between two contending persons, groups, or ideas. It was simply a way of reinforcing their already inflated egos.
Dueling was a big cause of death among young men back then and that's why it was though outlawed, but still one sided duel is going on in the shape of Death Threats.
How Duels Worked
Challenge is given for gun fight (in some countries sword fight). Not accepting challenge means marked as a coward. One or both of duelers could be severely wounded or killed today. Doctors are standing by to mend the damage if possible.
How one sided Duel in the shape of Death Threat is going on?
U S never takes lightly threats given to President Obama because its two presidents Abraham Lincoln and Kennedy have been assassinated.
The assassination of President John F Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United States, took place on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, at 12:30 p.m. The funeral of the assassinated President, John F Kennedy, has taken place in Washington. The time was 2034 GMT, and the short but momentous era of America's youngest elected president was over. The president collapsed into Jackie Kennedy's arms, who was heard to cry "Oh no". This tearful tragedy stopped the dreaming of sitting in the White House.
"Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people" Abraham Lincoln
If this is true then why the assassination of topmost leaders of the two greatest democratic countries America and India have been assassinated? Why death threats are still going on. How this madness trend can be stopped?
Abraham Lincoln was shot by a Southern sympathizer, John Wilkes Booth, in Ford's Theater. He died the next day. His body was displayed in the East Room of the White House.
Psychics believe that President Lincoln has never left the White House, that his spirit remains to complete the business of his abbreviated second term and to be available in times of crisis.
For seventy years, presidents, first ladies, guests, and members of the White House staff have claimed to have either seen Lincoln or felt his presence. The melancholy bearing of Lincoln himself, and several instances of eerie prescience on his part, only adds to the legends of the Great Emancipator's ghost. Lincoln dreamed of his own death.
Threats against a new president historically spike right after an election, but from Maine to Idaho law enforcement officials are seeing more against Barack Obama than ever before has been seen with any past president-elect.
Earlier this week, the Secret Service looked into the case of a sign posted on a tree in Vay, Idaho, with Obama’s name and the offer of a “free public hanging.” In North Carolina, civil rights officials complained of threatening racist graffiti targeting Obama found in a tunnel near the North Carolina State University campus.
As reported by ABC News and published in the media: In a Maine convenience store, an Associated Press reporter saw a sign inviting customers to join a betting pool on when Obama might fall victim to an assassin. The sign solicited $1 entries into “The Osama Obama Shotgun Pool,” saying the money would go to the person picking the date closest to when Obama was attacked. “Let’s hope we have a winner,” said the sign, since taken down.
In the security world, anything “new” can trigger hostility, said Joseph Funk, a former Secret Service agent-turned security consultant who oversaw a private protection detail for Obama before the Secret Service began guarding the candidate in early 2007.
Obama, of course, will be the country’s first black president, and Funk said that new element, not just race itself, is probably responsible for a spike in anti-Obama postings and activity. “Anytime you’re going to have something that’s new, you’re going to have increased chatter,” he said.
Duel was outlawed and not common now-a-days but giving and receiving death threats in the shape of one side duel are being common in every walk of life. It is unfortunate and great threat to the world. Execution of death threat culture is going on through terrorism. From one hand U S fights
War against terror and by another hand it gives every type of helps to the country which is the heaven of terrorism, sponsor of terrorism especially against India. Is it not beyond seventh wonder?
