Farmers need to be motivated for good income for pulses, oilseeds along with greens and cash crops. Along with this, there is also a need to link them with activities like animal husbandry, poultry, etc. The Commissioner, Mr. GR Churendra said this in a meeting organized to prepare an action plan on cropping system and agro-forestry. For the welfare of the farmers, he instructed to link the various schemes operated through the departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Land Conservation, Forest etc., and provide Kisan Credit Cards.
Presiding over the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Churendra said that it is necessary to cultivate different types of crops for higher income to the villagers. Along with this, they also need to emphasize on processing of crops for good income. Due to abundant forest produce in Bastar region, there is immense potential in the area of ​​forest produce processing here.
The commissioner stated the need to promote the use of organic manure due to reduced expenses as well as being environmentally friendly. He said that the use of organic manure instead of chemical fertilizer will also benefit farmers more due to reduced cost of farming. He also stressed for faster work towards water conservation. He said that along with all government buildings, blotting should be made compulsory in government office premises. He also emphasized on the mining of wells and ponds in the villages. Stating that everyone has equal rights over water, forest, land and minerals, he said that conservation of it is necessary. He stressed the need for greater plantation to prevent increasing environmental pollution and climate change. He also directed the plantation as well as their safety.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr. BS Sidar, Joint Director of Agriculture Department and officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries Department of all districts were present.
