Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Umesh Patel attended the closing ceremony of B Category Challengers category of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Trophy in chess competition organized at Hotel Shagun Farm in Raipur today as the chief guest. He honored the winners with Challengers Trophy and Cheques. The overall winner in the Challengers category was Sri K. R. You. Arun (Rating 1861) was Point-8 and the runner-up was Shreyan Mazumdar (Rating 1743) of Maharashtra, Point-8. On this occasion, Minister Shri Umesh Patel congratulated and extended best wishes to all the players. Minister Shri Patel said that sports creates a positive environment. He said that the government has a plan to build an academy in every district for the sport which people are more interested in. Better arrangements are being made for the players in the sports academies. He said that a policy has been made for the development of sports in Chhattisgarh after discussing with the industry, people associated with the field of sports and all those who cooperate in this work. These chess players were honored with the Challengers Trophy. This tournament, which has been going on for the last 5 days, was completed in nine rounds in which about 350 players from 20 states and 3 federations Nepal, Bangladesh, United States of America participated. The overall winner in the Challengers category was Mr. R. You. Arun (Rating 1861) Point-8, Runner-up Shreyan Mazumdar (Rating 1743) of Maharashtra got Point-8 and Mr. Bishal Basak (Rating 1716) of West Bengal got the third position with Point-7.50. In the 1800 to 1400 rating, the winner was Mohammad Ryan of Bihar, the runner-up was Shri Anas Nandan of Maharashtra and Ajay Santosh Parthareddy of Uttar Pradesh stood third.
