Firecrackers can be used only for two hours on festivals like Deepawali, Chhath, Guru Parv etc. Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Kumar Shukla has issued guidelines regarding the use of firecrackers in the district as per the orders of National Green Tribunal and Supreme Court. According to the order issued, the duration of bursting of crackers on the occasion of festivals like Diwali, Chhath, Guru Parv, New Year/Christmas etc. has been fixed for 2 hours. Firecrackers can be used in Diwali from 8 pm to 10 pm. On Chhath Puja, from 6 am to 8 am, on Guru Parv from 8 pm to 10 pm, and on New Year and Christmas from 11.55 pm to 12.30 pm, crackers can be burnt. Collector Shri Shukla has said in the guidelines issued that the sale of improved and green firecrackers which generate less pollution can be done only by licensed traders. Only those firecrackers can be sold for use in the market, the level of noise produced by which is within the prescribed limit. A ban has been imposed on the sale, use and manufacture of firecrackers or sticks in the series. The licenses of firecracker manufacturers who use lithium, arsenic, lead and mercury in firecrackers will be cancelled. Fireworks cannot be supplied through online mode or through e-commerce websites like Flipkart, Amazon etc. The Collector has directed the Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Officer Revenue, Bemetara, Berla, Saja, Nawagarh, all Chief Executive Officer, Janpad Panchayat, all Chief Municipality / Nagar Panchayat officers to ensure strict compliance of the above orders.
