On the second day of the 6th Leadership Summit of IIM Raipur, the process of immense knowledge and in-depth discussions continued. Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate, Raipur, IIM Raipur Director Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani and Prof. Parikshit Charan, President, Corporate Relations, IIM Raipur, and leaders from various industries presented their views inspired by years of experience in their respective fields. The day started with Prof. Kamal Jain, Dean (Academic) and Professor – HRM and Organizational Behavior, IIM Raipur conducted a panel discussion on “Emerging Engines of Future Indian Economy”. Mr. Jay Mehta, Deutsche Bank director focused on the importance of developing infrastructure and financing, calling them the two pillars of credit and capital formation. Mr. Ajit Chaturvedi, CEO of Hindustan Times Learning Centers spoke about the existing value chains that are emerging as engines of digitization such as the semiconductor and textile industries. Mr. Pradyuman Maheshwari, CFO, Carlsberg India Pvt Ltd described India as a sweet spot for the manufacturing industry and how it will increase GDP towards our goal of becoming the second largest economy in the next 5 years. Dr. Bhawna Sapra, Head Strategy, Special Projects, Distribution and Capital Equipment India Hub, Boston Scientific, emphasized the healthcare industry as an emerging engine for economic growth as it has the largest number of growing start-ups and growing demands. There is potential for development. Second panel of the day Prof. Jagruk Dawra, Professor – Marketing, IIM Raipur on “Strategy to Drive Sustainability in the Age of Business Disruptions”. Initiating the discussion, Dr. Suraj Bahirwani, President and Global Sales Head, Aditya Birla Grasim said that organizations today are in the process of understanding what sustainability means to them with climate change being the biggest threat to them. Mr. Lokesh Gowda, Vice President and General Manager, Optive India, showcased his passion for environmental sustainability. Optiv has sponsored the rejuvenation of two lakes in Bangalore and is building a corridor for elephants. Ms. Karishma Gupta, Vice President – Finance, Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd., spoke about the strong link between the environment and businesses, on how businesses should innovate and adapt to their surroundings, like the energy generation industry is doing with solar panels. Mr. Sanjay Gupta, CFO and Head of Finance Shared Services, TIAA, said sustainability has two segments — endurance and longevity, with three factors — plant, people, profit, and a balance in them. Makes it durable. Ms. Divya Sonali Minj, Director Human Resources, Avnet defined sustainability with disruptions with a simple ideology – when a flood occurs, one can either take shelter, or one can build a windmill. Third Panel Prof. The theme was “Decoding Integrated Logistics and Market Shifts for Driving Growth” by Mohit Goswami, PhD Goswami (Moderator), Associate Professor-Operations & Quant. Mr. Deepak Jain, Director, Argonne & Co opened the discussion by talking about technology and its importance in developing supply chain. More and more companies are investing in new end-to-end technology to ease logistics. Mr.Sachin Mathur, Senior Vice President SCM & Procurement, Dorf Kettle, highlighted the development of safety standards in logistics, which is essential as supply chain can help in building business. Mr. Dinkar Singh, Director, UPS, highlighted the government’s vision that logistics is the backbone of any economy, which was realized when logistics had to shift during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Arun Giri, Vice President SCM, Calderies India Refractories Ltd, lauded the government’s initiative in developing and easing the way logistics are handled in the country in the form of Transport, Customs, Documentation and Integration. The day ended with an inspiring and inspiring speech by the guest of valedictory Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate, Raipur, as he drew parallels between his journey and that of the management leaders. He emphasized the importance of hard work and eagerness for knowledge at every stage of his career and how to choose role models as you carve your own path in life. Pro. Parikshit Charan, President, Corporate Relations, IIM Raipur expressed gratitude to all the guests, panelists, management and faculty of the institute for their presence on the stage and the value added by them to yoga.
