The target for constructing houses in the financial year 2024-25 is now 1,165,315.

Raipur, January 11, 2025: The central government has approved 303,384 additional houses for Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture, Shri Shivraj Singh, informed Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai about the approval of these additional 303,384 Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas houses via letter. Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture for this decision benefiting the homeless in Chhattisgarh.
Shri Shivraj Singh stated in the letter that with this additional approval, the total target for Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (Samgra Vikas) in Chhattisgarh for the financial year 2024-25 is now 1,165,315 houses.
The Union Minister for Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh, explained that the Ministry of Rural Development has been implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) since April 1, 2016, with the aim of providing housing for all in rural areas. The scheme aims to assist eligible rural families in constructing pucca houses with amenities. He mentioned that the Union Cabinet meeting on August 9, 2024, approved a plan to continue the construction of an additional two crore houses to meet the growing housing needs in rural areas until March 2029. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Chhattisgarh was allocated a target of 861,931 houses in the financial year 2024-25 based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 waiting list and Awas Plus 2018 survey list. He further stated that the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, has allocated an additional target of 303,384 houses from the final Awas Plus 2018 survey list for Chhattisgarh during the financial year 2024-25. This is a significant step towards the Government of India’s commitment to housing for all in rural areas. Shri Shivraj Singh stated that Chhattisgarh has now been allocated a total target of 1,165,315 houses in 2024.
