Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has demanded the immediate resignation of Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Joshi’s call came in response to the tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory celebrations in Bengaluru, which resulted in the deaths of 11 people. Joshi cited the government’s alleged irresponsible and insensitive handling of the crowd as the primary reason for his demand. He highlighted that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) had warned about the risks of large-scale celebrations so soon after the victory, a warning that was reportedly ignored by Shivakumar. Furthermore, the Police Commissioner’s request to postpone the event due to insufficient manpower was also allegedly disregarded. Joshi emphasized the moral responsibility of the state government for the tragedy, questioning the decision to suspend police officials. The incident occurred after the RCB team was officially felicitated by the Karnataka government. Following the stampede, the government suspended top police officials and initiated a probe.
