Iran has strongly criticized the United States, along with Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, accusing them of manipulating the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for their own political agendas.
This accusation, made by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, came in response to reports that these Western nations are attempting to push an anti-Iran resolution during the IAEA’s Board of Governors meeting in Vienna.
Baqaei stated that while Iran has previously cooperated with the IAEA, the US and the three European countries have misused the agency to further their own political objectives. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and Comprehensive Safeguard Agreements.
Reports indicate that France, Britain, Germany, and the United States are pursuing a draft resolution that targets Iran over alleged non-compliance with safeguard obligations.
Adding another layer to the situation, it has also been revealed that former US President Donald Trump sought assistance from Russia in reviving stalled US-Iran nuclear talks. An aide to President Vladimir Putin, Yury Ushakov, confirmed that the two leaders discussed the Iranian nuclear program during a phone conversation, and Trump expressed his belief that Russia’s involvement could be helpful.
