A SpiceJet flight passenger endured an unsettling experience on a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight when they became stuck inside the lavatory for the duration of the journey. The airline has offered an apology and a refund, but the incident has left many online in disbelief. The passenger was eventually freed after the plane landed in Bengaluru, with ground staff and engineers intervening to open the malfunctioning door.
The incident occurred on Monday night, with the flight departing Mumbai two hours behind schedule. Shortly after takeoff, the passenger, seated in seat 14D, entered the restroom, only to find the door jammed shut. The crew attempted to unlock the door, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
To offer comfort, the crew passed a handwritten note to the distressed passenger, asking them to remain seated on the toilet until the flight landed. A photo of the note went viral, sparking amusement and commentary on the crew’s handwriting. The flight landed at approximately 3:45 AM, and the door was subsequently opened by an airport engineer. The airline has issued an apology for the inconvenience suffered by the passenger.
