Indian cricket spinner R Ashwin is facing accusations of ball tampering during a Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) match. Madurai Panthers have formally accused Ashwin and his team of tampering with the ball in a game on June 14. TNPL officials are currently reviewing evidence submitted by the Madurai Panthers. The franchise’s complaint alleges that Dindigul Dragons used chemically treated towels to alter the ball’s condition, and that the ball made a metallic sound when struck. Prasanna, a TNPL official, stated that the league has acknowledged the complaint and requested supporting evidence. He also mentioned that if the allegations are substantiated, an independent committee will be formed. Madurai Panthers COO S Mahesh detailed the claims in a letter to TNPL authorities, citing repeated warnings regarding the alleged ball tampering.
