WhatsApp is introducing new features for Android users, mirroring some of the functionalities already available on iOS. The latest beta updates for Android include a built-in document scanner and a wider range of chat theme colors. These additions aim to boost both functionality and personalization, improving the user experience across different devices. The document scanner, integrated within the document-sharing section, allows users to scan documents directly using their phone’s camera, either in manual mode for precise control or automatic mode for quick edge detection. Scanned documents are converted to PDF files locally, with end-to-end encryption ensuring secure sharing. Additionally, the update introduces 18 new chat theme colors, expanding the options to 38 and allowing users to customize the appearance of individual or all chats. These theme changes extend to chat bubbles, wallpapers, and doodles, offering a more visually consistent experience. Both features are currently in development and will be rolled out in future WhatsApp updates, with beta users likely to get early access.
