OpenAI is reportedly nearing completion of its first custom AI training chip, with an anticipated launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. This application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is designed to optimize the training of AI models and reduce reliance on third-party hardware, such as Nvidia GPUs. The chip is being developed in collaboration with Broadcom and manufactured by TSMC using a 3nm process.
