The investigation into the Air India plane crash is ongoing, with a key step involving sending the damaged black box to the United States for analysis. The black box, recovered shortly after the crash, sustained significant external damage, rendering data extraction impossible in India. The US, with its advanced facilities, will attempt to retrieve the vital information from the flight recorders.
The Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) data will be analyzed at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) laboratory in Washington. The findings will be shared with India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is leading the crash investigation. International protocols dictate that the state where the accident occurred is responsible for the investigation.
