Amarjit Singh Dulat, the former chief of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), has expressed admiration for Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, following his meeting in the US. Dulat has called for a reciprocal gesture, suggesting that Munir visit India and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help improve relations between the two countries. Dulat’s remarks were made during an interview focusing on his recently published book, ‘The Chief Minister and the Spy.’ He highlighted the significance of Prime Minister Modi’s past visit to Pakistan and expressed hope that Pakistan would similarly work towards thawing the strained relationship. Dulat specifically congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir and suggested a meeting at Hyderabad House, followed by a visit to Amritsar. He believes that such interactions could help to soften the existing hardline stances and foster better understanding. Dulat emphasized that despite the current tensions, a meeting between the leaders could be a positive step, similar to the recent meeting between Munir and US officials.
