During an emergency special session of the UN Security Council, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, lauded the recent US strikes against Iran’s nuclear sites. He described the action as a crucial step in removing what he termed the “greatest existential threat to humanity.” Danon strongly defended Operation Midnight Hammer, led by the US, and criticized nations that condemned it. He questioned their silence when Iran was enriching uranium beyond civilian use and when Iran was allegedly plotting Israel’s destruction. Danon accused Iran of using nuclear negotiations with the US as a tactic to delay and advance its missile and uranium enrichment programs. He warned of the global consequences of a nuclear-armed Iran. The strikes targeted key nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Earlier, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported that approximately 20 Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets had conducted intelligence-based strikes using over 30 munitions on sites across Hamedan and Tehran. The IDF stated that the targets included missile storage and launch infrastructure, radar and satellite systems used for aerial intelligence, and a surface-to-air missile launcher near Tehran, as part of an effort to degrade Iran’s military capabilities and protect Israeli civilians.
