Police in Madhya Pradesh have arrested an 18-year-old man accused of raping a four-year-old girl. The incident occurred in a village within the jurisdiction of the Uchehra police station on June 23. According to police reports, the accused lured the child with fruit before taking her to a secluded area near railway tracks where the assault took place. The girl was later found by local women who alerted her family. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation, while the victim is receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. Additionally, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a separate case involving the alleged gang rape of a 20-year-old female college student on a beach in Odisha. The NHRC has issued notices to Odisha’s Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, seeking a detailed report on the matter.
