Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, VK Birdi, announced comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin next week. Speaking from the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, IGP Birdi emphasized the crucial role of local communities in ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage. The Jammu and Kashmir Police, alongside other security agencies, have implemented a multi-layered security plan, more extensive than previous years. Security protocols are meticulously structured across the Yatra route, with ongoing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) drills to enhance preparedness. IGP Birdi expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic support from local residents, highlighting their vital role in welcoming devotees and providing essential services.
