The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) demonstrated against Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar during a book release event titled ’50 years of Emergency’ at Kerala University in Thiruvananthapuram. Police intervened, detaining SFI members as they protested, creating disruption. This incident follows a similar protest last week, where SFI accused the Governor of anti-student stances. The protests are fueled by concerns regarding the Governor’s actions, including the installation of images of Bharat Mata and RSS ideologues at the Kerala Raj Bhawan. Furthermore, SFI has also protested at Kannur University against a directive to monitor event content for ‘anti-national elements,’ burning copies of the order as an act of defiance. The university’s directive has sparked concerns about freedom of expression and academic autonomy.
