Revenue Inspector (RI) Manoj Kumar Behera and Amin Bichitrananda Satpathy of Kandarpur Revenue Circle in Cuttack district, Odisha, were apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on Thursday. They were allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000. The bribe was demanded from a shop owner near the Kandarpur revenue office in exchange for a favorable report in a mutation case, concerning the conversion of agricultural land to homestead land and the issuance of an ROR (Patta). The entire bribe money has been recovered. Simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Behera and two linked to Satpathy to investigate potential accumulation of assets disproportionate to their income. A case has been filed under Section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is ongoing.
