Despite claims of enhanced user safety and privacy, a recent report highlights a concerning issue: a Telegram bot is allegedly selling sensitive personal data. This revelation raises serious questions about the security of user information on the platform. The bot, discovered by Digit through a tip, offers access to names, addresses, Aadhaar numbers, PAN card numbers, and voter ID details of Indian users. To access this data, users must purchase a plan, with prices ranging from ₹99 to ₹4999. After a plan is purchased and a 10-digit mobile number is provided, the bot reportedly delivers a complete profile within seconds, including the individual’s name, alternate phone numbers, address, and other document details.
