The Lohardaga district is reeling from shock following the brutal murder of a grandmother and her grandson in Bhakso village, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station. The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Ritesh Oraon and his grandmother, Barya Oraon. Ritesh was reportedly murdered by having his throat slashed with a ‘tangi’ (a type of axe), while his grandmother was suffocated. The double homicide is believed to have occurred late Wednesday night. Other family members were sleeping in adjacent rooms at the time of the incident and remained unaware of the crime. Police reached the scene upon receiving information and took possession of the bodies, sending them to Sadar Hospital, Lohardaga, for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the matter is underway. Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the killings. Police officials have stated that the entire case will be solved soon. An atmosphere of fear and anger prevails in the village.
