Honda is investing heavily in multiple energy platforms to stay competitive in the evolving automotive market. While traditional ICE vehicles remain popular, hybrid vehicles are gaining significant traction. Honda is planning to introduce a new multi-level Energy platform, similar to initiatives by Mahindra, Volkswagen, and Skoda. The upcoming Honda hybrid cars will utilize the PF2 modular platform, which will support various powertrains, including hybrids, ICE, and EVs. This platform will be used for the brand’s small and medium-sized vehicles, catering to both domestic and export markets. Honda aims for high localization to lower prices, with the new cars expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. The first car under the PF2 platform will be a new three-row SUV, expected by 2027, positioned above the Elevate and competing with models like the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari. A sixth-generation City e-Sedan is also planned, featuring both petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options, with a launch expected in 2028. Additionally, Honda is developing an all-new SUV, potentially powered by the Elevate’s 1.5-liter petrol engine.
