The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across India over the next six to seven days. The monsoon is currently active and is expected to bring significant rainfall to large parts of northwest, central, and eastern India. States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand are all expected to experience continuous rain. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha may face excessive rainfall for several days. The IMD also predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and parts of Gujarat, increasing moisture for agriculture while also raising the risk of waterlogging and flash floods in vulnerable areas. Saurashtra and Kutch are also likely to receive substantial rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in isolated areas of Northeast India. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka may also see heavy rainfall during certain days of the week.
