The monsoon has arrived across the country, bringing heavy rainfall to many states. The capital, Delhi, has also been impacted, though the rainfall has been light, leading to a slight drop in temperature but increased humidity. This has resulted in a feeling of sultriness. The Meteorological Department forecasts no heavy rain for Delhi in the coming days, with partly cloudy skies, thunderstorms, and light showers expected. The maximum temperature is predicted to be 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum 27 degrees Celsius today.
The Meteorological Department has issued forecasts for eastern and central India, predicting heavy rain in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh until July 8th. Heavy rainfall is expected in Sikkim, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar until July 6th, and potentially severe rainfall in Meghalaya, south-east Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram this week.
In North-West India, heavy rainfall is anticipated in various parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand until July 8th. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to experience very heavy rainfall. Himachal Pradesh has already suffered significant damage from the monsoon, with an estimated loss of around 283 crore rupees. The Uttarakhand region is also experiencing rising water levels in rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Alaknanda, and Soung, leading to flood-like situations in several districts.
For Western India, very heavy rainfall is expected in the Ghat regions of Maharashtra. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also predicted in the Ghat regions of central Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa over the next week.
