The accident occurred near the number two railway bridge in the Ghamapur police station area. The individual was reportedly so absorbed in playing the online game PUBG on his mobile phone that he failed to perceive the approaching train. This lapse in awareness led to the train striking him, causing grievous injuries to his hand. He was promptly taken to a medical college, but doctors were unable to save his hand and were forced to amputate it due to the severity of the damage.
