In Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district, a Station House Officer (SHO) and two constables have been suspended. The suspension followed an incident where the police personnel were transporting an alleged accused from West Bengal in an Innova vehicle. The Jharkhand Police intercepted the vehicle in Ranchi after receiving information about the abduction of an influential person from West Bengal. Balrampur SP Vaibhav Banker took immediate action, suspending Kusmi police station in-charge Lalit Yadav and the two constables, Vishnu Kant Mishra and Pranjul Kashyap.
According to reports, SHO Lalit Yadav dispatched the two constables to West Bengal without informing senior officers or obtaining necessary permissions. The case pertained to a fraud complaint. The complainant had provided the Innova vehicle to the police to apprehend the alleged accused in Bardhaman. The constables had reached Bardhaman, West Bengal, three days prior.
When the Jharkhand Police intercepted the Innova, the constables identified themselves as Chhattisgarh police officers. The matter escalated to the Jharkhand DGP, who informed the Chhattisgarh DGP. The Chhattisgarh DGP then sought information from the Surguja IG. After discussions with the Balrampur SP, the Jharkhand Police released the constables.
The Balrampur SP suspended the SHO and the two constables for unauthorized travel to West Bengal.
