A disturbing incident in Madhya Pradesh resulted in the hospitalization of more than twelve individuals after they consumed puris made with what was believed to be desi ghee. The group, hailing from Sahai village in Panna district, was enjoying a picnic at Ajaygarh fort when they began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. Locals quickly transported the affected individuals to a nearby hospital. Initial investigations by the Food Department, prompted by the incident, revealed that the ghee used for cooking the puris was potentially adulterated. Children and women were among those affected, suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. Authorities have collected samples of the ghee for testing and vowed to take action against those responsible for selling contaminated food. Sampling is also underway at the shop from where the ghee was sourced.
