During his address to the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized Bihar’s historical significance and cultural importance. He praised the Indian diaspora’s resilience and referred to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar as a ‘daughter of Bihar,’ acknowledging her ancestral connection to the state. Modi requested that she offer water from the Sarayu River and the Mahakumbh to the Ganga Dhara in Trinidad and Tobago. He noted that Bissessar’s ancestors hailed from Buxar, Bihar, and she herself had visited the region. Modi also mentioned the recent Mahakumbh and presented water from it. Addressing the gathering, many of whom had roots in Bihar, Modi stated that Bihar’s heritage is a source of pride globally. He highlighted Bihar’s historical contributions to democracy, politics, diplomacy, and higher education. Furthermore, Modi referenced the Girmitiya community’s journey and announced initiatives to honor them. He expressed confidence in Bihar’s future role and lauded the Indian diaspora in Trinidad and Tobago for preserving Indian culture.
