Pakistan and Russia have agreed to work together to establish a rail and road network, aiming to connect Pakistan with Central Asia and Russia. This collaboration was discussed during a meeting between the leaders of both nations at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) ministerial conference in Tianjin, China. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Andrey Sergeyevich Nikitin, agreed to expedite infrastructure projects to boost trade and economic activities in the region. This initiative seeks to transform Pakistan into a regional connectivity hub, enhancing trade corridors and logistical routes to Russia and Central Asia. This follows a joint naval exercise, ‘Arabian Monsoon-VI,’ held by Pakistan and Russia in the North Arabian Sea earlier this year. Separately, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, has voiced concerns over the Taliban’s alleged violations of the Doha Agreement, warning of regional instability and the undermining of counter-terrorism efforts.
