A 72-hour heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Jharkhand, with several districts expected to experience significant downpours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted that heavy rain is anticipated in Ranchi on July 6th. In addition to Ranchi, other districts like Lohardaga, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum are also under a heavy rainfall alert. Furthermore, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, and West Singhbhum are forecast to receive very heavy rainfall, prompting an orange alert for these areas. The weather pattern suggests rainfall in various parts of the state until July 10th.
A yellow alert has been issued for several districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, and Bokaro, for heavy rainfall expected on July 5th. Cloudy skies are predicted for Ranchi on the same day. On July 7th, Simdega, Khunti, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan are expected to experience heavy rainfall, leading to the issuance of a yellow alert.
According to the IMD, from June 1, 2025, to the present, the state has received 395 mm of rainfall against a normal of 226.3 mm, marking a 75% surplus. Ranchi has recorded the highest rainfall in the state, with 651.2 mm against a normal of 235 mm, exceeding the average by 177 mm.
