In Palajori, a grand Tazia and Akhara procession was taken out on Sunday in various Muslim villages of the block to mark Muharram, a festival of sacrifice and martyrdom. Preparations for the Muharram festival had been underway for several days in Palajori, Mahuadabar, Pokhariya, Leto, Chakleton, Makarkenda, Asahna, Sagarajor, Kumagadha, Mallandih, Bedgawana Wadih and many other villages in the block. A procession of Tazia was taken out in the villages on the occasion. The procession started appearing on the roads in the afternoon. Fairs were also organized on the occasion of Muharram in Mahuadabar and Bedagawana Wadih, among several other places. Men, the elderly, the youth, and children participated in the fair. Muslim youths displayed feats in the Akhara with sticks, clubs and traditional weapons. Police Inspector Nagendra Mandal, Palajori and Khaga police station in-charge, along with magistrates, were seen patrolling the area continuously to maintain law and order. Police personnel were also deployed in many Muslim-dominated villages. On Monday also, Akhara processions will be taken out on the occasion of Muharram in Badiya and many other villages of the block. The youth of 7 Star Club in Bedgawana Wadih performed stunts in the Akhara – on the occasion of Muharram, the youth of 7 Star Club of Bedgawana Wadih performed amazing stunts, leaving people in awe. Shamsher Ansari, Karimuddin Ansari, Samsul Ansari, Jamal Ansari, Azad Ansari and others of the club played an important role in the organization of the Akhara.
