With the auspicious month of Sawan just days away, devotees are preparing for the Shravani Mela. The annual pilgrimage to Deoghar sees massive crowds, and organizers are making extensive arrangements to facilitate the lakhs of Kanwariyas. Those planning to seek blessings from Lord Shiva this year should be mindful of certain guidelines to ensure a fulfilling pilgrimage. The Kanwar Yatra is considered a challenging act of devotion, with participants often walking long distances. It’s crucial to adhere to certain practices to maintain the sanctity of the journey. Pilgrims should walk barefoot, never place the Kanwar on the ground, and maintain celibacy. A sattvik diet, free of onion, garlic, meat, and alcohol, is also recommended. Avoid using harsh language, touching the Kanwar without bathing, and consuming tobacco. The journey should be filled with chants dedicated to Lord Shiva.
