In a significant development concerning the murder of businessman and BJP leader Gopal Khemka, the primary suspect, known as Vikas aka Raja, was fatally shot during a police encounter in Bihar. The Bihar Police officially confirmed the incident in a statement. The encounter occurred near Damaiya ghat around 2:45 AM. Authorities recovered a pistol, a bullet, and a cartridge from the scene. Additionally, Vikas was reportedly involved in the illicit manufacture and sale of firearms.
Following the encounter, the body of Vikas has been transferred to Nalanda Medical College in Patna for a post-mortem examination.
JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan commented on the situation, stating that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is closely monitoring the investigation. Ranjan mentioned that, according to information received, the suspect had attempted to attack the police. Gopal Khemka was murdered on the night of July 4th near his residence in Patna. He was shot near the Gandhi Maidan South area and declared dead at the scene. Khemka, a prominent businessman and owner of Magadh Hospital, was reportedly associated with various social organizations. In 2018, Khemka’s son, Gunjan, was also murdered.
