The village council of Dhora Basti, located in Baliguma Daher Tola near NH in Jamshedpur, has unanimously decided to impose a complete ban on alcohol within the village. Presiding over the village meeting, Ranjit Dhora expressed concerns about the adverse effects of alcohol, rallying villagers to unite and take concrete steps for peace, security, and social improvement. The community reported that seven mahua liquor shops previously operated in Dhora Basti. Of these, four vendors have voluntarily closed their shops in compliance with the village council’s decision. However, three vendors, Sanjay Dhora (alias Kanhu Dhora), Khukhi Dhora, Purnima Khutia, and Vishnu Dhora (alias Hablu Dhora), continue to illegally sell alcohol, thereby impacting the social environment of the village. Representatives of the village council of Dhora Basti met with the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday, providing detailed information and submitting a memorandum. The villagers expressed their confidence that positive action from the administration would ensure lasting peace, social betterment, and the safety of women and children in the village.
