The Jharkhand High Court has initiated a hearing on a suo motu public interest litigation concerning the improvement of the jail system in the state. A division bench comprising Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Rajesh Shankar heard the state government’s arguments. Following the hearing, the bench directed the state government to file a response regarding the appointments to fill vacant positions within the jails. The court has inquired about the steps taken to fill these vacancies and has requested a status report. The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for August 12.
