Following the announcement of reciprocal tariffs on 14 countries, former US President Donald Trump declared that his administration will announce at least seven countries affected by new trade tariffs on Wednesday morning. Additional countries will be disclosed later in the day, according to a post on Truth Social. Earlier, letters were sent to 14 nations, informing them of reciprocal tariffs effective August 1, 2025. Trump clarified there would be no extensions, with all payments due from that date. Initial letters were sent to Japan and South Korea, with subsequent notices to Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Myanmar, and Laos. Additional countries including Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tunisia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Cambodia also received the tariff letters. Japan and South Korea face a 25% tariff, while Thailand and Cambodia will have a 36% tariff. Bangladesh and Serbia will have 35% tariffs, Malaysia and Kazakhstan will face 25% tariffs, and Myanmar and Laos will face 40% tariffs. Indonesia will have a 32% tariff, and South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be subject to 30% tariffs. Tunisia will have a 25% tariff. Trump indicated he would be open to adjusting the deadline if countries proposed alternative solutions.
