The Axiom Mission 4 crew, including Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, is conducting extensive research in space. Shukla focused on three experiments: studying the effects of microgravity on plant germination and development using a ‘sprouts project,’ deploying microalgae for potential food, oxygen, and biofuel production, and conducting crop seed experiments to identify plants with traits suitable for space farming. The crew also participated in studies on eye movement, mental health, muscle loss countermeasures, and the impact of clothing on heat transfer. Further research included data collection on cardiovascular and balance systems, smartphone motion sensor accuracy, and radiation exposure. A cognitive experiment, the Acquired Equivalence Test, was also undertaken.
