In a shocking display of disregard for human dignity, a partially burned body of a woman was transported in a municipal garbage truck to the hospital in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh, India. The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the handling of the deceased and the availability of proper transportation for such cases.
The incident occurred in the Bakimongra police station area, where the woman’s body was found in suspicious circumstances. Upon identification, the deceased was identified as Geeta Shri Vishwas. After completing the necessary legal procedures at the scene, the police prepared to send the body for a post-mortem examination. However, a significant lapse occurred as no शव वाहन (mortuary van) or ambulance was arranged for the transportation.
The police attempted to secure a शव वाहन from South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), but were unsuccessful. Faced with the lack of alternatives, the police were compelled to transport the body in a municipal garbage truck to the hospital. This decision has drawn severe criticism from the public, highlighting the need for improved infrastructure and protocols for handling deceased persons.
