The globally renowned Deoghar Shravani Mela in Jharkhand commenced with a traditional inauguration ceremony marked by Vedic mantras. Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar, Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav, and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh jointly inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon. Before the ribbon-cutting at the Dumma gate, the ministers, along with district administration officials, participated in a religious ceremony with temple priests, chanting Vedic mantras. Ministers Sudivya Kumar and Sanjay Yadav joined the devotees entering through the Dumma gate, chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ and ‘Bol Bam’. Minister Sudivya Kumar addressed the gathering, highlighting the special arrangements made for this year’s mela, including the use of artificial intelligence to facilitate pilgrims. He emphasized the importance of community and local support for a successful event, urging the people of Deoghar to maintain positive interactions with visitors. Minister Kumar also revealed plans for future improvements, including the construction of two flyovers to enhance pilgrim convenience. He mentioned the Chief Minister’s absence due to a meeting with the Union Home Minister. Minister Deepika Pandey Singh praised the district administration’s efforts in organizing the mela, recognizing its significance as a major event in Jharkhand, attracting visitors from around the world. Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav emphasized the economic benefits of the mela for the entire Santhal region, urging the local community to showcase their culture by making the event a success. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including local MLAs and district officials. The Shravani Mela, starting July 11th, will allow devotees to directly reach the Baba Dham temple in Deoghar after a 110-kilometer walk from Sultanganj, entering through the Dumma gate.
