Security forces in the West Singhbhum district thwarted a Naxalite plot in the dense forests and hilly terrain of the Chota Nagpur area. During a joint operation involving the police, the Cobra 209 Battalion, CRPF, and Jharkhand Jaguar, two powerful IEDs were discovered and safely neutralized. Additionally, five Naxalite bunkers were demolished. A significant cache of explosives was seized, including electric detonators, walkie-talkie sets, safety fuses, arrow bomb assemblies, electric wires, syringe mechanisms, and Naxalite uniforms. The IEDs were safely destroyed at the site by the bomb disposal squad.
The operation was launched on July 8th following intelligence reports indicating that top CPI (Maoist) leaders, including Misir Besra, Anmol, and others, were planning destructive activities in the Saranda and Kolhan regions. The search operation led to the discovery of the IEDs and bunkers hidden within the forest. Police sources revealed that the Naxalites intended to use these IEDs to harm security forces. The operation will continue until the complete elimination of Naxalites from the Saranda and Kolhan regions, according to the SP.
Authorities have increased vigilance in the area to maintain peace and security and are preparing to intensify anti-Naxal operations. Joint forces have assured villagers that their safety is the top priority and that no destructive activities will be tolerated.
