Security forces in Jharkhand are intensifying operations against Naxalites. On Tuesday, a fierce encounter took place between security forces and Naxals in the Lugu Pahar and Birhordera areas of Gomia police station in Bokaro district. In the encounter, two Naxals were killed, including Kunwar Manjhi, a notorious area commander carrying a reward of ₹25 lakh. A Cobra 209 battalion jawan also lost his life during the operation.
According to reports, security forces are conducting intensive search operations to make Jharkhand Naxal-free. On Tuesday, when a team of soldiers was conducting a search operation in the forests of Lugu Pahar, Naxals opened fire on them. In retaliatory action, security forces engaged the Naxals, killing two of them.
One of the slain Naxals was identified as Kunwar Manjhi, who had a reward of ₹5 lakh on his head and was involved in carrying out Naxal activities in the area. A Cobra battalion jawan was seriously injured in the encounter and was taken for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.
After the encounter, security forces launched an extensive search operation in the entire area. During this operation, sophisticated weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the Naxals.
It is worth noting that on April 21, 2025, an encounter took place between security forces and Naxals in the same Lugu Pahar area, in which eight Naxals, including Prayag Manjhi alias Vivek, who carried a reward of ₹1 crore, were killed. During that time, 4 INSAS rifles, one SLR, and a pistol, along with a large quantity of ammunition, were recovered from the Naxals.
These continuous operations make it clear that the security forces are fully committed to eradicating Naxalism from Jharkhand, and action against Naxals will be intensified in the coming time.
