In a brazen display of lawlessness, five assailants stormed Paras Hospital in Patna and shot a prisoner, Chandan Mishra, who was admitted for medical treatment. The attack, which occurred on the morning of July 17th, was captured on CCTV. Mishra, a hardened criminal with numerous murder cases against him, was on parole at the time of the shooting. Police investigations suggest the shooting was carried out by a rival gang. Senior police officials, including Central Range IG Jitendra Rana and SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, confirmed the incident and stated that the attackers are being identified with the assistance of Buxar Police. The possibility of involvement by the security personnel is also being probed. Following the shooting, Mishra’s relatives created a disturbance at the hospital.
