Starting at 4:17 AM on Sunday, the tenth day of the month, the ritual of offering water to the deity began. Devotees from across the country and abroad are visiting to offer water to Lord Shiva. On Saturday night, according to district administration, the queue of devotees extended up to the B.Ed College, with the water offering commencing at 4:19 AM. District Commissioner Naman Priyesh Lakra has informed that a significant number of officers and employees on duty for the Sawan Mela are requesting exemption from their duties due to illness. The Civil Surgeon-cum-Chief Medical Officer has been instructed to form a three-member medical board and provide information to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. This is to ensure that the magistrates and employees who were previously relieved from duty based on their illness (list attached) can present their health certificates before the medical board. Further applications will be processed only after the concerned officers and employees provide a health certificate from the medical board. Those officers and employees who fail to provide the health certificate issued by the medical board will be subject to necessary action as per the rules.
